
Home Weatherization Program
The Weatherization Program provides free energy efficiency measures to income-eligible households at no cost to the residents. On an average most households that receive Weatherization Services will reduce heating bills by 35% and may lower your overall energy bills by about $400 a year.
Eligible El Dorado and Alpine County homeowners and renters may apply for this program.
Apply for Weatherization Today If:
- You feel cold drafts coming from your windows and/or doors, even when they’re closed
- You are running the heater all day in the winter just to stay warm
- You are keeping your air conditioner on all the time in the summer
- Want to save money on your monthly energy costs
If Your Home Qualifies for Weatherization, Services May Include:
- Door repair or replacement

- New smoke alarms and carbon monoxide alarms
- Duct repair or replacement
- Led light bulbs and nightlights
- Low flow faucet restrictors and shower heads
- Heat/Furnace repair or replacement
- Cooling repair or replacement
- Water heater repair or replacement
- Attic/Floor insulation
- And many more measures

Home Energy Assistance Program
The Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) helps income-eligible households pay their energy bill or heating fuel provider. Eligible homeowners or renters may qualify to have a specific payment amount credited to their electric utility account or receive financial assistance in obtaining firewood, propane, pellets, or heating oil. In addition to the credit on their utility bill, eligible households will receive valuable information about energy conservation and practical tips on how to save money on energy costs. Priority is given to the elderly, disabled, and families with children under age 5. Eligible El Dorado and Alpine County residents may apply for this program.

Important HEAP Information
- To make an appointment or for more information, please call 530-621-6150.
- Applicants must meet minimum point threshold eligibility under the El Dorado County Health and Human Services Priority Plan. Applicants must provide proof and documentation of any of the following in the home: Child under 5 years, Disabled or Senior over 60 years or older.
- You must provide copies of all required documents. Incomplete applications will not be accepted. See full list on the front page of the application.
- If you are applying for Wood, Propane, Oil, or Pellets, you must use one of our authorized vendors from our WPO Vendor List(PDF, 110KB).

Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) Information

- Find a local Community Resource Center nearest you that is open during a PSPS event. These centers offer handwashing stations, medical equipment charging, device charging, WI-FI, bottled water and snacks. Find a location near you
